Why EBH

At Engineering by Houghton (EBH), we’re a small team of civil engineers and project managers who believe great infrastructure starts with great people—and a solid grading plan. What You’ll Do

The Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) role supports technical delivery across EBH’s core verticals—municipal engineering, land development, construction management, environmental & coastal engineering, and municipal engineering within the industrial sector. This position provides hands-on experience in both technical design and field-based project oversight, allowing you to solve complex real-world engineering challenges. This role is perfect for a highly motivated individual who is eager to learn and deliver impactful results while developing a deeper understanding of engineering processes.

    • Contribute to delivering project management services as a client-facing offering, assisting with project schedules, budgets, and resource plans for external stakeholders.
    • Track project budgets and progress using tools like Oracle Primavera Cloud and BQE Core.
    • Maintain clear communication with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to address issues and ensure timely project delivery, balancing EBH’s internal needs with external commitments.
    Fieldwork and Construction Support
    • Field activities typically include topographic surveying, drone flights for high-quality site imagery, and conducting detailed condition assessments of underground, surface, and overhead infrastructure.
    • Conduct periodic site visits to verify construction adherence to design intent, resolve on-site issues promptly, and ensure project goals are achieved with quality and precision.
    • During construction, perform resident inspections or on-site construction management to verify adherence to design specifications, resolve discrepancies, and ensure successful project execution.
    Client and Team Collaboration
    • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with clients and team members through responsive communication and problem-solving.
    • Represent EBH during client meetings, presenting innovative and practical solutions aligned with project goals.
    •
