The Civil Engineering Technician/Technologist will play a critical role in both design input and construction oversight, helping ensure that what we design is both constructible and context-aware. You’ll also be a bridge between the office and the jobsite—advocating for clients, collaborating with contractors, and making sure the work gets done right.
- Conduct site visits to assess and verify existing conditions before designs begin.
- Operate EBH’s in-house survey gear, drones, LiDAR scanners, and pipeline cameras.
- Perform topographic and utility surveys, pull manhole covers, and document internal structures.
- Coordinate with utility providers to locate and document underground infrastructure.

Convert field-collected data into base maps in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Collaborate with design engineers to inform and improve engineering drawings.

Participate in early-stage planning to reduce construction-phase surprises.
- Act as a field representative for the owner during construction.
- Attend and lead site meetings with contractors, clients, and municipal stakeholders.
- Track material usage, installation methods, and field changes in structured field reports.
- Ensure contractor work aligns with drawings and specifications.

Use site schematics and checklists to plan efficient field days.

Support project managers with logistical tasks including closures, permit follow-ups, and client communication.
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Civil Technology/Engineering, Geomatics, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong interest in fieldwork with an appetite for design learning.
- Comfort working independently in varying site conditions.
- Experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or survey equipment is a bonus.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to local project sites.
- High emotional intelligence, adaptability, and a can-do attitude.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
